POSITION SEEKING - Effects and Profits

Image
WHY SEEKING FOR POSITION YOURSELF? By JOERYOS Position seeking is the act of making every human effort to place oneself at a desired height or position against the real plan of God for oneself. It also involves the self proclamation of titles and other initials which command human respect and honour. Many today have become victims of position seeking against God's plan for their lives. If you are still seeking for post, position and title in church or any organisation, you are not of God. A son or daughter of God does not seek for position. They are positioned at the right place they belong by God himself. Those who are not positioned by God himself go extra mile to get position or title. They  can even kill for it. They do all sort of things which include praying negative prayers against the person contending the post or title with them. People of God, stay where God has positioned you for it is that place that will benefit you and bring out those beautiful things...

Father's Day Special - Fatherly Visit

Image
Fatherly Visit Up I awoke from the slumbering stormy sleep My heavy unsatisfied eyes itching unpardonable, My pillows soaked with sweet bitter sweat which upon the bed could not slip, Much trouble abound causing nights of thoughtfulness against needs insatiable. The ailing door by my rickety entrance cried aloud with a gentle sob, A leap from my heart was a proof of great despair. “Never mind”, my head whispered to my heart’s robe, “You’ve hurt none for fear of want but set thou forth to hear.” Alas! My eyes beheld one so greatly named HOPE, “I’ve come as thy benefactor” said he. Who will keep thee company in here? So asked I, Seeing I’ve got no father to succor me even with a soap. “Father thou may not have but thou hast so looked on me, COURAGE so affirms it for thou didn’t put him off. PATIENCE whispers daily to me with a tell of thee, PERSISTENCE and PERSEVERANCE cheer thou with accolades you cannot tell of.” Such glad tidings from HO...

VOLUMES ON LINES - Poem speaks on morality

Image
Where's Your Morality? The uprightness once displayed by any, is now much so sought after by many. Lost in extinction and decadence, The plea for wellness in an unwell society becomes a guerrilla war. The innocency of my being is now altered, This I'm dumbfounded as my vocability is slain upon an ugly altar, Though I thought my trust was true. What is my crime and where is your morality? I was given like a goldmine yet much treated and disdained as one with lost identity, By treachery, pouncing on my treasure stems awaiting calamity. Is it a crime that heaven showered on me flavorous physic for it's glorification? Have you not been given your members for the communion of earth heavenlification? You chose not to preserve my purity, But adamantly for the cause I know not bathed me with cold shivers in groaning without quantity. The sky can only but utter wordless whisper to my deafened ears. What is my crime, where is your mora...

Pregnant Thirst - Soul Poem by PraiseGod

Image
Pregnant Thirst! Deep yearnings  Reminiscing how I cried as I eloped from darkness in my mother's belly, I had thought that was the answer to my yearnings But never was it for there was always an urge within me for a merry, Tickles of hope blazed all around as I gazed in gripping earnings. The breast milk never sufficed, So soft aqua came to the rescue. The little giants within constantly warred, Soothing empowerment they desired as solidified matter came hinder as at when due.  Leaping and stunting came to play, Mama's tender care became a relay. Age with grace came along Fantasies of teenage rumbled and tumbled so strong. Heights became much a desire like a burning fire, The mire was never enough to drag the chime within me to dire. Not enough was the yearning for fame, Within was the mine not just for rhymes but to burn like a flame. Passion not fashion became an anchor, Rancor with servitude persisted along a sensor. T...

INDOMITABLE NIGERIANS - Impacts through Music

Image
In a society where diverse ills thrive and its systems seem to support all the tracks and paths to the anomalies  through its tools of which music is no exception, few determined and good spirited Nigerians have chosen to be the change and solution their country much desire. The life of one of these young fellows is not without challenges and difficulties but has a message for many others. An interaction with Mr. Joshua Oluwaseun popularly known as Joeryos revealed the following to challenge us. 1. Who is Joeryos? Joeryos is a music minstrel hailed from Ogun State, Nigeria and was born on June 20th, 1991. I started my music career in 2007 as a drummer and as a singer in 2009. Since then, I never stopped music because I had this passion to make music in every area of my life, although this wasn't there before. I also had this passion and anxiety just like other people to become a computer engineer but nothing came out of it after all. So I let go my desires and anxieties...

JUNE 12 and HOPE '93 - Nigeria's Redemption denied!

Image
"While many are left to history to be taught great lessons, few give all within their reach for history to be made so that generations can be beneficiaries." This special Democracy Day publication is dedicated to the memory of  MKO ABIOLA (24th August 1937 – 7th July 1998 ). While growing up as a child, there used to be a calendar in my father’s room which had a picture showing Abiola stepping down from a van. This calendar spoke a lot to me about the famous struggle of MKO Abiola for a better Nigeria through his mandate of “HOPE ’93”  most especially because the events took place few months before I was born. As a quote goes “Cowards die many times before their death”, he refused to die before his death but courageously fought for his mandate till his death. Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, GCFR, born on 24th August 1937 was a Nigerian businessman, politician, publisher, an aristocrat and a philanthropist. He was born in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeri...

A LETTER TO MY UNBORN DAUGHTER: Phase II

Image
A LETTER TO MY UNBORN DAUGHTER - Phase II (The Society) My elegant Jewel, Like I promised in my previous letter to write again as soonest, I'm doing so now to show you how much you mean to me for you're my inestimable treasure. I know you must have anticipated to hear from me again after reading through the contents of the recent letter. I am writing again to buttress some of the points I made previously for there's great need for me to do so. In this letter and the subsequent ones, I'd be giving details of my society, nationality, life in general and the teens and adult's view of it. More so, I'd go deep into our diverse cultures, religious perceptions and more of you most importantly. My Maker in one of the biblical books said "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..." this means that one is easily destroyed by what he or she is not aware of and even if one knows that thing and refuses to apply wisdom to it, one would find ...

NGF Chairman, Kayode Fayemi spills fire on rape!

Image
The chairman of the Nigerian Governors' Forum, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, the Governor of Ekiti State has directed the state's Attorney General (AG) and the commissioner for justice to refuse rape offenders plea bargaining and bail application. He has also pledged to use his office as the chairman of the Governor's Forum to work together with his co-governors in ensuring that rape offenders don't go unpunished. He further signed a bill protecting children from sexual violence into law. The bill was recently passed by the state house of assembly and entitled "Compulsory Treatment and Care for Child Victims of Sexual Violence Law, 2020." This is a laudable effort. Don't you think so? If all the Nigerian Governors act likewise, in no distant time the Nigerian society will be a rape free zone. What do you think? Edited by PraiseGod Wome

DECAYING MORALS IN THE SOCIETY: Whose fault?

Image
DECAYING MORALS IN THE SOCIETY; Whose fault? Is it the parents, schools or both? With many parents occupied with their careers, enough of them consider providing for the needs of their children as sufficient; yet being emotionally present/involved and supportive through their developmental stages matters more, especially in helping define their moral foundations which only a few parents do.  The school on the hand being the environment where most children and young ones engage in different learning activities also play major roles in the lives of pupils and students. The higher institution of learning is not left out as 70% of young adults pass through it on their journey to becoming certified graduates and professionals in their different fields. The DEBATE  Since everyone comes from a family and some pass through institutions of learning and yet, there's an increase in moral decadence in the society, who is at fault and what should be done right?  Le...

PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE - The Possibilities

Image
The Possibilities of Living in Peace  Generally, scholars, practitioners and activists have underscored peace with variations from the philosophical, sociological, political, economic, religious and even commonsense perspective. From whatever perspective, peace remains an important element that continues to receive the attention of all sectors in the society. Despite the general knowledge of peace; there are variations to its meaning especially through the lenses of philosophy, sociology and politics. According to a philosopher, peace “is a natural, God-given state of human existence without the corruptive tendencies of man.” According to sociologists, peace refers to a condition of social harmony in which there are no social antagonisms among people or group in a given community. For the political scientists, peace is a political condition that makes justice possible in any given society thereby entailing political order. Similarly, cultures and civilization have differ...

PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE - The Process

WE CAN LIVE IN PEACE In recent time, the world has witnessed waves of violent extremism that have taken lives of many innocent people either based on religious, ethnic or political grounds. In 2014 alone, the Global Terrorism Index had shown that, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, and Nigeria were home to 78 percent of the lives lost to terrorist attacks in the globe and it has further increased today. In Nigeria, as a result of Boko Haram insurgency alone, over Twenty Thousand people have lost their lives especially in its North Eastern region. Across the country in every region, the failure to significantly address evident cases of farmers/pastoralists, minority/majority, religious domination, political power struggle and corruption, have further aggravated terrorism, cattle rustling, armed robbery, political thuggery, kidnapping for ransom, and many others. More so, the rise in domestic violence against the opposite genders have led to increase in divorce and broken homes. ...

How do we define PEACE? The Perspectives

Image
How do we define PEACE? The word “peace” is derived from the Latin word pax which literally means a pact, a contract, and an agreement to end war or any dispute and conflict between two people, nations or antagonistic groups of people. A situation or a period of time in which there is no war or violence in a country or an area is often described as peaceful. It can be regarded “as the absence of war, fear, conflict, anxiety, suffering and violence and about peaceful coexistence.”  It is further defined as a “process involving activities that are directly or indirectly linked to increasing development and reducing conflict, both within specific societies and in the wider international community”.  In this respect, peace therefore connotes the absence of violence or war, the presence of justice, equality and development; the  existence of rule of law, respect for human life and dignity, and tolerance among and between people; maintenance of a balanced ecosph...

RUINS IN OUR HOMES; FAULTY FOUNDATION!

Image
"Great is the ruins of a house without a solid foundation no matter how elegant it is. Such is the fate of a home based on falsehood no matter how good it appears to the beholders." - PraiseGod What is foundation? To me, foundation is what we build or lay with our own hands thereby building upon it. Most of our parents are the foundational problem of their marriages and families. Some fathers/mothers have already built their marriage on the foundation of lies, hatred, deceit, selfish interest, tribalism and so on. It’s a pity. When the foundation of your marriage is built on GOD AND GOD ALONE, the will of God in the lives of your children will be easy to do, when they discover the will of God for their lives, you as a parent will have peace in your old age. But when you train up your own children with regards to selfish interest, just be ready to get disappointed because you will be disappointed when your children discover the will of their Heavenly ...

NO TO RAPE! Spoken Words

Image
I AM A GIRL - A Poem supporting fight against rape I am a child, a girl, a woman  Who desires everything but pain  From society and every man But reverse is the case, only injury I gain  I am a creature to be loved and protected  Not a tool to be abused without piety  As a child, girl and woman was I raped  I weep, I groan, I deserve some mercy  How then should I desire my justice? Oh! I am but a woman and weak Who then should speak and lend a voice? A sacrifice of love my soul doth seek This day my justice I beg From society, everyone and all I am a woman, not a tool for rape  Today! My redemption I stand and call! Today I join other meaningful voices to say no to RAPE and VIOLENCE meted on the ladies. Poem by Godswill Ugorji, an Educator and Human Rights Activist. Boys and Girls are Victims  One in four boys and one in 10 girls under age 18 are victims of sexual violence, the U...
