Schools in Nigeria have been closed for over two months as a result of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. This has kept many including parents, students and educators in anticipation of the reopening of the institutions of learning in the country.  In the press briefing held at Abuja the nation's capital on Wednesday 27th May, 2020, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 cleared the rumour in circulation that schools would be reopened on June 8th off the air. The minister of state for education - Mr. Emeka Nwajiuba while addressing news men asked Nigerians to disregard such rumour and put their minds to rest. The minister also said the PTF had not announced any date for the reopening of schools across the country. “Until we are sure that our children can go to school and return safely without taking Covid-19 home, we are not ready to take the risk of opening schools,” he said.
