Evolution! Beyond the four Walls

With so many arguments related to the word 'evolution', one would immediately think you are referring to Darwin's theory of evolution whenever you mention the word. The term 'evolution' refers to the gradual development of any being or thing.

Education is one venture that revolves around the four walls of a building in the field of academics for few who are privileged to have it. But there are many who never had the opportunity to find themselves within these walls as a result of societal class differences and other socio-economic and cultural limitations.

Evolution of Education
In recent days, what was defined by Aristotle as the creation of sound mind in a sound body has evolved from being limited to the activities done within the four walls of a school building to one that can be carried out on the internet and is regarded as e-learning or online learning where one can learn from the comfort of one's home or location without distance barrier.

Education is seen in its narrow, technical sense as the formal process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills, customs and values from one generation to another. This can be in both formal and informal learning.

Therefore, with the recent occurrences in the world and social distancing becoming the order of the day, there are so many questions left unanswered in the world of education. The questions asked by many are;
1. Will the idea of establishment of an organised school by Plato which is followed by many today be done away with?

2. With the ascent of online or e-learning, wouldn't it be difficult to monitor and regulate learners' response to learning?

3. What is the fate of teachers who are yet to be aligned with these realities?

4. What roles should parents and guardians play in order for their wards to profit maximally from the realities of the evolution of education?

5. How can online or e-learning thrive in most developing countries where there is poor knowledge of how to go about it as well as poor internet connections and epileptic power supply?

We hope to find answers to these questions and many more as quick as possible.

Do well to drop your comments. Thank you!

  3. Nice article there. What will most likely happen is attempting to blend the traditional class room with the virtual classroom because each one has its important role to play.

    1. Thanks for your response Sir. Undeniable fact! Each one has its important role, so there's need to adapt to both systems.
